Round 5 of cross country competition took place on a beautiful Autumn afternoon on Saturday May 3rd at Longreach Rd. There were 5 runners in the 1km event with the win going to Will Sproule in 5.26. Lani Parmenter was 2nd in 6.14 followed closely by Hamish Bennett in 6.27. Grace Parmenter was 4th in 7.20 and Olive Zadkovich was 5th in 8.23.
In the 2km event Charli Keogh took the win in 11.11 with Josie Sproule 2nd in 9.37 and Ben Sproule 3rd in 9.42. Chloe Keogh was 4th in 22.23 with Sam Keogh right alongside her in 22.24.
Zoe Musson, in a time of 15.10, took the win from a field of 10 in the 3km event. Tom Smart ran well for 2nd in 14.49 and Dean Osgood was 3rd in 16.14. Geoff Crook was 4th in 18.38 with Lisa Carroll 5th in 18.36. Declan Bennett clocked a good time of 13.49 for 6th place followed by Robyn Khourey who walked the course in 29.11. Emerson Boatswain recorded the fastest time on course with 13.10 in 8th place followed by Evie Smart in 17.00 and Erin Smart in 17.17.
Medium course had 8 competitors with the victory going to Paige Connolly-Davies in 24.38. Dennis Smart clocked the fastest time of 21.04 in 2nd place followed very closely by Matt Reid with 21.09. Scott Armstrong, back feeling fit and enjoying his running, finished 4th in 21.34 followed by Alex Arnold in 34.20 then Emily McLaren in 24.49. Donna Johnson with dog Benji walked home in 48.16 for 7th place and Eva Moeller-Duhme rounded out the field with 44.31.
Long course saw 7 competitors take on the 10km distance. Peter Khourey crossed the line first in 51.23 with speedy Leith Babian clocking 40.57 in 2nd place and Scott Johnson taking 3rd place in 51.28. Jasper Arnold had a good run for 4th in 48.29 followed closely by Perry Strand in 49.12. Annie Scofield was 6th in 1.00.00 and Erich Moeller-Duhme completed the field in 7th with a time of 1.04.30.
Members are reminded that the Club AGM and Presentation of Annual Awards will take place on Saturday 17th May at UOW, Shoalhaven campus, immediately after the cross country running. Cross country events will start a little earlier on this day.
1 and 2km – 2pm start
Long course – 2.15pm start
3km and Medium – 2.30pm start
There will be a BBQ provided by Club and we ask that members bring along something sweet to share for ‘dessert’
All members are encouraged to consider nominating for the committee or for a Club role. Volunteers are essential for running a successful Club so don’t be shy, put your hand up to take on a role. No prior experience is necessary.
Next Saturday, 10th May, to raise the profile of our Club in the community and to encourage new membership, members are invited to run Husky Park Run in their Club uniform.
Park Run takes place at Moona Moona Creek, in Huskisson at 8am.
If you’d like to run Park Run, you will be awarded points for running but we do ask that you hang around to hand out flyers and speak with interested runners.
Cross Country will still take place Saturday afternoon at our Huskisson course at the normal time for anyone who still wants to run cross country.
