Runners converged at Longreach Rd on Saturday 24th May after a very wet week. Despite the puddles, runners enjoyed the course.
In the 1km Grace Parmenter was first across the line in 7.45 and Olive Zadkovich was 2nd in 11.53.
In the 2km Casey Norris took the win in 6.46 followed by Jaxon Keogh in 7.33 and then Hamish Bennett in 13.13. Walter Cisneros was 4th in 9.44 with Lani Parmenter 5th in 10.54 and Mila Bokikov 6th in 10.18.
There were 14 competitors in the 3km event and the win went to Loretta Norris in 14.34. Next home was Dean Osgood in 9.26, which was the fastest time of the day, followed by Jackson Golding in 14.44. Kylie Oke was 4th in 17.14, crossing the line in front of daughter Madeline Oke who clocked 12.44.
Erin Smart took the win in medium course from a field of 13 contenders in a time of 24.41. Cathleen Chang was 2nd in 27.56 and Dennis Smart was 3rd in 21.13. Matt Reid clocked the fastest time of 20.59 in 5th place, just beating out Scott Armstrong who was 6th in 21.01.
Long course had just 5 runners and it was recent award winner Darcy Arnold who took line honours in 53.17. Perry Strand was 2nd in 45.57 followed by Leith Babian in the quick time of 41.20. Rebecca Cooper was 4th in 53.57 and Scott Johnson was 5th in 50.07.
Next week, local cross country will take place at UOW whilst a selection of runners will travel to Sydney to compete in the cross country relays.
