It was great to see runners taking advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday afternoon to run the UOW cross country course. The kangaroos were certainly excited to see everyone, coming out in their masses to spectate! The runners were spurred on to the finish line by the aroma of the BBQ which was provided to everyone at the completion of the events.
In the 1km event, Will Sproule was first home in 5.01. Hazel Saviane was 2nd in 5.39 followed by Hamish Bennett in 6.34 then Grace Parmenter in 6.41.
There were 9 competitors in the 2km event with some debutante visiting runners joining in the fun. Isla Saviane took the win in 10.33 followed by one of our visitor’s who crossed alongside Ben Sproule in 9.06. Our 2nd visitor was 4th then Hugh Sproule was 5th in 10.31 followed by sister Josie Sproule who crossed in 9.22. Winter Bell was 7th in 13.29 then Lani Parmenter was 8th in 13.15 and Kate Feeney was 9th in 17.26.
The 3km event had 21 competitors. Dean Osgood took line honours in 15.39 followed by Madeline Oke in 13.23 whilst Grace Rose was 3rd in 24.39. Jack Saviane was 4th in 20.50 and a smiling Robyn Khourey was 5th in 26.27. The fastest 3km time was recorded by Emerson Boatswain with 13.16 as she crossed in 11th place.
Medium course was well contested with 17 participants. Nic McGill had a great run to take the win in the fastest time of 17.55. Nathan Rose was 2nd in 37.57 and Miller Bell was 3rd in 31.12. Brad Sawyers ran well for 5th place in 19.03. Matt Reid also recorded a fast time with 19.21, as did Tom Smart with 19.42.
Long course had 9 competitors and it was Scott Martin who crossed the line first in 40.01 which was the fastest 10km of the day. Elisha Bell was 2nd in 46.46 and Jasper Arnold was 3rd in 44.16. Scott Johnson was 4th in 47.36 followed by Marty Bell in 51.32 then Rebecca Cooper in 53.07. Erich Moeller-Duhme was 7th in 1.00.40 then the Club’s newest life member, Perry Strand was 8th in 47.27 and Peter Khourey rounded out the field in 9th place in 55.40.
The AGM was held after the running and the new committee was sworn in.
